G. I. JOE: RETALIATION

(2013) 110 Minutes, Rated PG-13

Mike's Review:  Being one of the few people that liked the first 'G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra' it wasn't too much of a stretch for me to go and see the second.  With the addition of some new cast members (Dwayne Johnson) and a little bit better story line, I enjoyed 'G.I. JOE: Retaliation' just as much as the first one if not more. For those of you that haven't seen either one it is your typical bad guys versus good guys movie with some explosions and Snake Eyes thrown in.  It wasn't a movie you would remember a lot about after watching it, but it was fun to watch.

Best Scene: The tank Dwayne Johnson was driving.
Mike's Rating: Matinee - Good enough to see on the big screen, just not at full price.

Bean's Review:  The premises of this movie is to pack as much action as possible into the allotted time to enable GI Joe and gang to save the world.  The rappelling rope scenes in the mountains were quite intense.  However, the impressive repertoire of action scenes does not compensate for the overly “comic book” flavor of the characters.  In contrast, the most recent 'Batman' and 'Spiderman' movies, although comic book action heroes, they did not come across to the viewer as “comic bookish”.

Bean's Review: Except for perhaps seeing some of the mountain scenes on a large screen, this movie can wait for digital or DVD.
