THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES

 (2013) 140 Minutes, Rated R

Mike's Note:  I never had any desire to see this movie, but I know some of our readers wouldn't mind reading a review on this movie, so here is our first 'guest reviewer', Karyn.

Karyn's Review:  This movie was filmed locally and had a ton of hype behind it, which drew me to want to see it in the first place. It all started with Ryan Gosling being a stunt motorcycle guy - to finding out he had a kid - to him robbing banks.  When Ryan Gosling died about an hour into the movie is just about the time I walked out. This movie was a big waste of money.  For all the hype of Bradley Cooper and Ray Liotta being in it, Bradley Cooper didn't show up until Ryan Gosling died and I didn't even see Ray Liotta before I walked out, behind some other movie goers.

Karyn's Rating: Don't waste your time or money!.

  1. Karyn seems to have really dislike the movie but she never delves into why she is so adamently against it that she would walk out. It was I would say a good movie certainly not one to give up on not even half way through. If you are back on the blog please clarify your position. Thank You.

  2. A.C. I couldn't pinpoint any one thing that made me want to walk out. It was a combination of things. It started off with Ryan Gosling's flat one note acting followed by the way they filmed the movie, which reminded me of a documentary chasing people around. It was just not an enjoyable movie for me to watch or waist any more of my time on, so I walked out. Karyn.
